Largest collection of 'Back to the Future' props & costumes up for auction December 15-17
by Stephen ClarkNovember 19, 2011
Los Angeles - Profiles in History once again takes film buffs and movie prop collectors Back to the Future in their largest auction yet of props & costumes from the famed trilogy to be held December 15, 16 and 17. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research through Team Fox.
The largest item among the 87 lots that will be up for auction is the DeLorean Time Machine driven by Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future Part III. As one of only seven screen-used DeLoreans in the Back to the Future trilogy, this particular car was used in the 1955 drive-in movie scene when Michael J. Fox drives it into the past and to find Doc Brown in 1885. Only three of the original seven DeLoreans have survived since filming, and this is the only one in private hands (the other two are still owned by Universal). The car comes with a Universal Studios certificate of authenticity and an original signed Bill of Sale with the Vehicle Identification Number.
Among the other unique treasures being auctioned are Claudia Wells' personal script and notes from Back to the Future (benefiting MJFF and 'Kids in the Spotlight'), a Griff Tannen (Tom Wilson) remote-controled Pitbull hoverboard from Back to the Future Part II, Marty McFly's (Michael J. Fox) Mattel hoverboard from Back to the Future Part II, Marty McFly's 'Clint Eastwood' costume from Back to the Future Part III, a Doc Brown shirt worn by Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future, a Biff Tannen shirt worn by Tom Wilson in Back to the Future Part II and Back to the Future...The Ride, Darlene Vogel's 'Spike' costume from Back to the Future Part II, a number of original posters drawn by Drew Struzan, and dozens of other one-of-a-kind artifacts from everyone's favorite time travel adventure series!
